UPDATE (7:23am) –

Windsor firefighters have extinguished a blaze in the 1500 block of Hickory.

Crews responded to 1583 Hickory just before 6:30am to find flames and smoke shooting out of the front of the house.

Two residents of the home made it out alive. One was taken to hospital by EMS. Firefighters rescued three dogs from the residence but one succumbed to its injuries. The fire has been extinguished.

This is the third fire in Windsor within 24-hours.

This is the second fire in the 1500 block of Hickory in a few weeks. Less than a block away, a man was recently arrested for attempted murder and firefighters spent more than half an hour trying to extricate the man from his vehicle.

There’s no evidence that any of the incidents are related other than their close proximity to each other.
