The driver was pulled over near Tilbury

Chatham-Kent OPP have arrested and charged a man they say was driving with open liquor, and was impaired double the legal limit, on the 401.

Around 10:48pm last night, OPP located a vehicle that was swerving across the lanes of the 401 while travelling eastbound near Tilbury.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but they say it continued to drive for approximately six kilometres.

Eventually, the vehicle stopped at the Bloomfield Road offramp.

Mark Allott, a 48 year old, Chatham, Ontario man was tested and the OPP say he was double the legal limit.

Allott was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, exceeding 80mg of blood alcohol content, fleeing police, and driving a motor vehicle with open liquor.
