UPDATE – Garry Bigras is charged with Break and Enter, Possession of Weapon for Commiting an Offence, Assault with a Weapon, Aggravated Assault, and Breach of Probation.

A Belle River man faces charges after a stabbing in South Windsor.

Around 12:45am police were called to the 3800 block of Maguire Street.

Police say that an assault occurred between two men after the suspect entered his ex-girlfriends home and confronted the current boyfriend. An altercation occurred at which time the suspect grabbed a knife and stabbed the victim.

A 34-year-old Windsor man suffering from a puncture wound to his lower abdomen. The suspect a 39-year-old Belle River resident fled the scene in his car.

The suspect was located in the 700 block of Sandison hiding in a nearby a yard, by the K-9 unit. He was taken into custody without incident.

He is facing charges of assault with a weapon and breaching a probation order prohibiting him from having alcohol.

The victim was taken to Hotel Dieu Hospital, and police say that his injury does not appear to be life threatening.
