The Essex Region Conservation Authority is hosting a free tree planting and care workshop on Tuesday, February 26th at 6:30pm at the Essex County Civic Centre.

This workshop will focus on ways in which everyone can get involved in the reforestation of the region. “This workshop will explore different tree planting techniques, tree health, tree physiology, and the best ways to care for your future forests or special shade trees,” explains Rob Davies, ERCA’s Acting Forester. “As well, people will learn about the environmental benefits of tree planting.” The workshop will also identify the many grant opportunities available to landowners who wish to undertake restoration projects on their property.

Although the workshop is free, landowners are asked to pre-register by calling (519) 776-5209 ext. 345 or [email protected]

ERCA will also be selling tree seedlings or large stock trees. The cost of seedling trees begins at 69 cents, while prices for large stock trees begin at $11.25. A minimum purchase of 100 seedlings or 15 large stock trees is required. Order forms are available online here.
