Police have two in custody after a detailed investigation.

The Windsor Police PAVIS Unit (Provincial anti violence intervention strategy) applied for and were granted search warrants to enter and search residences located in the 6100 block of Malden and the 6300 block of Matchette in the Town of LaSalle.

Police say that just after 10pm Thursday evening, a male suspect was observed leaving the Matchette Road address in a vehicle and drove to the Malden Road address. A short time later, the male left the Malden Road address and was stopped by LaSalle Police in the 5800 block of Malden Road. The male was arrested without incident and transported to Windsor Police Headquarters.

Police attended the Malden Road address and executed the search warrant. Officers discovered a “grow operation” in several rooms of the residence. A total of 236 cannabis marihuana plants were seized with an estimated value of $236,000. Police say that no one appears to actually reside at this location.

Then approximately 10:30 pm police attended the Matchette Road address, where an additional search warrant was applied for and granted for an outbuilding on the property. In the residence and outbuilding, police located and seized 1036.8 grams of cannabis marihuana with a street value of $10,368.00. A brass knuckle knife was also discovered and seized.

32-year-old Matthew Johnston of LaSalle is charged with Possession of Marihuana, Possession of Cannabis Marihuana for trafficking, Unlawfully Produce Cannabis Marihuana, Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Possession of Prohibited Weapon while Prohibited.

A 25-year-old LaSalle woman is also facing charges in relation to this investigation and will be summonsed to appear in court.
