Electrical Tape Gun Suspect Arrested After Failed Robbery Near University of Windsor

Windsor Police have arrested a man after a failed robbery near the University.
On Friday October 12th around 8:30am, Windsor Police were dispatched to the area of Askin Avenue and Fanchette Street for a report of a robbery that just occurred.
A 28 year old female victim had been approached by a suspect described as approximately 20 years of age, wearing black pants, a black hoodie and a hat with the hood pulled over it. The victim reported the suspect was carrying a fake gun or object shaped like a gun wrapped in electrical tape.
University of Windsor Campus Police indicated that they had a male matching the description of the suspect at the waterfront in Assumption Park. Windsor Police attended their location and placed the 21 year old suspect under arrest for Robbery. Clothing described by the victim was located in the suspect’s duffle bag.
Investigation has revealed that the victim was walking to the University of Windsor when she suddenly felt someone pulling at her computer bag. She observed the male to be carrying a “fake gun.” He was demanding the computer bag. The victim held on to the bag and screamed for help. The suspect ran Northbound towards the river without the bag.
A 21 year old Windsor resident is charged with Robbery.
