Just after 5pm Thursday afternoon, two University of Windsor students were walking along the Riverfront pathway westbound by Bridge Avenue, when they came across a male and female who asked them for money so they could go to the United States.

When they declined to give the suspects the money the suspects tried to negotiate a lower amount of money, and then the one male student feeling sorry for the female suspect took his wallet out to give her ten dollars.

Police say that when he did this the male suspect knocked the wallet out of the hands of the victim causing it to fall on the ground and cash go flying. The victim tried to scramble to grab the cash however the male suspect held the victim on the ground while the female grabbed up as much money as she could and then the two of them fled up the embankment towards Riverside Drive heading westbound.

The victims yelled out for help at which time an older male came to their assistance. The suspects disappeared. Police arrived and canvassed the apartments in the area were but there were no other witnesses to the event at that time.

The first suspect is described as a white male, aged 23 years, wearing an orange and red shirt, baggy shorts, ball cap, slender build and was clean-shaven.

The second suspect was a white female, aged 25 to 30 with light brown hair to the ears, wearing a white shirt, jeans with a slender build.

The victims of the incident were not injured. Police ask that anyone witnessed this event or may know who committed this crime are urged to contact Crime Stoppers or police.
