Windsor Fire and Rescue Services has released updates regarding two significant fires that took place yesterday evening.

First, at around 10pm, firefighters were called to extinguish a giant pile of wooden pallets/skids that had caught fire near the corner of Lauzon and County Road 42. Officials say the pallets were intentionally set ablaze and damage is estimated at around $20,000.

Shortly thereafter, an auto body shop and former gas station at the corner of Tecumseh Road East and Benjamin exploded and burned significantly. Investigators inspected the site this morning and have yet to rule on how it started. The Ontario Fire Marshall’s office has been called to assist with the investigation. Damage is estimated to be around $250,000.
