Just after 3am this morning, police were called to a commercial break in alarm at 4897 Tecumseh Road East. When police arrived they discovered that the glass window to the business was smashed.
Police say that the suspects removed articles of clothing from the store. Officers were able to broadcast suspect descriptions as well as a vehicle description captured on video.
The store owner attended the scene and allowed officers access to security video footage. An hour later, police who were on routine patrol in the area of Wyandotte Street East and Lincoln Road observed a vehicle matching the description from the broadcast.
The vehicle pulled into the rear of a residence in the 700 block of Lincoln Road where police discovered a male hiding in the rear yard of the residence.
His clothing matched the description observed from the crime scene video. The male was arrested without incident. Inspection of the vehicle revealed that the ignition had been compromised.
Police contacted the registered owner of the vehicle who confirmed that his vehicle was missing from his driveway. No clothing was recovered at the time of the arrest. The second suspect is still outstanding, but police say that a description is not available at this time, and that detectives are still examining the security footage.
