The OPP continue to investigate an accident on Wednesday afternoon that left two people in critical condition, and three in serious condition in hospital.

Police say that a 2003 GMC Envoy was travelling westbound on Highway 3 approaching Essex Road 27 in the Town of Kingsville. The Envoy had five male occupants in it at the time.

At the same time, a 2007 Saturn Aura, with one male occupant, was travelling eastbound on Highway 3. The Envoy drifted out of the westbound lane, crossed the centre line of the roadway, and struck the driver’s side rear corner of the Saturn, causing the Saturn to continue eastbound, into and then out of a shallow ditch, and come to rest on the eastbound shoulder of the roadway.

After the initial collision, the Envoy’s driver lost control and the vehicle rolled, coming to rest facing in a north-easterly direction.

The driver, 46-year-old Adam Dalil of Windsor and the other front seat passengers were wearing their seatbelts and remained in the vehicle, but the three rear seated passengers were not wearing their seat belts and were ejected from the vehicle.

The driver of the Saturn was uninjured in the crash.

Police say that charges are pending.
