Charges Pending After Fatal eBike Collision at Parent and Ottawa

Last night just before 6pm, Windsor Police, Fire and EMS responded for a collision at the intersection of Ottawa and Parent streets.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel reported that a red e-bike and a Silver GMC Sport Utility Vehicle had collided and that the 62 year old male rider of the eBike was laying face down in the street.
The male eBike rider had struck the windshield of the SUV and was suffering from extensive head injuries. Windsor Police officers determined that the victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The eBike rider was transported by ambulance to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The 30 year old male driver of the SUV was not injured.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the e-bike was travelling West on Ottawa Street approaching Parent Avenue and was struck by a Southbound GMC Denali traveling on Parent Avenue. The collision is still under investigation and charges are pending.
Windsor Police accident reconstruction crews attended the scene and are still investigating.
