Windsor Police have released the name of a 34-year-old woman in custody facing charges after a 23-year-old male was stabbed on a Transit Windsor bus at the corner of Tecumseh Road East and Lincon Road, Tuesday morning.
Kendra Blackbird is charged with Aggravated Assault and Breach of Probation and will appear in court today.
Police say when they arrived at the scene of the stabbing they found a man on the bus suffering from a stab wound to his lower back. He was transported to Hotel Dieu Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Police also located a knife on the bus with a 4″ serrated blade covered in blood. The suspect had fled the bus on foot in the company of another man northbound on Lincoln Road. Police flooded the area and located the suspects at the intersection of Lincoln Road at Mohawk Street. Blackbird had sustained a laceration to her right hand.
Blackbird was arrested and transported to Metropolitan Hospital where she too was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Police say it all began when the 43-year-old man became involved in an altercation with another man that escalated to the point that the driver stopped the bus at the corner of Tecumseh Road East at Hall Avenue and ordered the 43-year-old off the bus.
The male got off the bus and ran ahead to Lincoln Road where his girlfriend was waiting and he informed her of the altercation on the bus minutes earlier.
When the bus approached and then stopped at Lincoln Road, the female got on the bus and immediately went to the rear of the bus and confronted the 23-year-old male victim who had been in the earlier altercation with the 43-year-old man.
After exchanging a few words, the female pulled the knife and stabbed the victim in the back before fleeing the scene.
