Windsor Police are currently investigating two robberies that occurred on the city’s east side Thursday afternoon and early Friday morning. Police have identified the suspect responsible for both robberies as Joseph David Reid aged 27 years of no fixed address. He is wanted for two counts of robbery.

Three hundred heavy construction equipment operators who work on projects across Windsor-Essex Chatham-Kent went on strike. Projects shut down include planned reconstruction and streetscaping of Wyandotte Street West, much heavy construction activity on the W-E Parkway, the Provincial-Cabana intersection makeover and many construction projects on Windsor’s residential streets.

Windsor’s Fork & Cork Festival was approved by Windsor City Council Monday night to take over the July 6th, 7th and 8th slot at the Riverfront Festival Plaza after Festival Epicure was forced into cancelling their annual culinary gala.

The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society has charged a LaSalle woman with cruelty after 21 cats were found in her home in squalid conditions. Wendy Jenkins, 63, was charged on May 29th after investigators obtained a search warrant to investigate possible animals in distress.

The days are numbered for the Zellers store on Huron Church and the store-wide liquidation sale is continuing. The store is offering deep discounts, but will not participate in the Zellers Flyer offers, HBC Credit and HBC Rewards offers, and all sales are final. Currently, sales are up to between 40% and 90% off. The store closes for good Saturday.

Essex County OPP Friday confirmed that the 20 year old Christopher Austin, from Amherstburg passed away in hospital as a result of injures he received when his personal watercraft collided with a boat driven by a Michigan man in the Livingstone Channel on May 27th.
