After years of studies, talking, and anxious waiting from communities and governments on both sides of the Detroit River, Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Republican Governor of Michigan Rick Snyder announced that a deal has been struck to build a second border crossing between Windsor and Detroit.
Windsor Police are seeking the assistance of the public in identifying three suspects involved in an attack on an Auxiliary Police Officer and the theft of Windsor Police equipment. Police say that the officers approached some youth in the park about a drug deal when they were attacked.
Just after 9pm Thursday evening, the Burger King located at 300 Tecumseh Road East was robbed by a lone male. Police say the man entered the store, approached the counter and ordered a meal from the manager who was taking orders. The man then leaned over the counter and demanded that the manager open the cash register and give him all the money in it. The manager did so, and the suspect ran from the store.
A Thursday night fire in 300 block of Elliot Street West was visible from Downtown Windsor as a plume of black smoke and due to a southeast wind, thick white smoke filled much of the neighbourhood surrounding Wyandotte and Crawford.
Windsor Police are seeking the assistance of the public in identifying a suspect wanted for a robbery of the Petro Canada Gas Station located at Tecumseh and Ouellette, Wednesday afternoon.
Windsor Police have a male and female in custody facing charges after an apartment was broken into and two people were assaulted earlier this week. Police were called to an apartment at 1250 Ouellette where police were met by a man and woman who had both sustained non-life threatening injuries consistent with being struck with a baseball bat. Both were transported to hospital where they were treated and released.
Two children were killed and two others and their father injured when the minivan they were riding in was involved in a crash with a train on Strong Road in Lakeshore Sunday morning.
A fire swept through a multi-unit residential home in the 400 block of Caron Avenue in Downtown Windsor early Thursday morning. While on patrol, Windsor Police noticed smoke coming from 490 Caron shortly after 1:30am and alerted residents and called firefighters.
Kendra Blackbird is charged with Aggravated Assault and Breach of Probation after a 23-year-old male was stabbed on a Transit Windsor bus at the corner of Tecumseh Road East and Lincon Road, Tuesday morning.
A man suspected of committing a robbery where a quantity of narcotics were stolen at Tecumseh Mall’s Shoppers Drug Mart Tuesday night was found deceased in an east side apartment early Wednesday afternoon.
A fire 2318 Meighen Road which occurred during the early morning hours of Sunday left one person dead. Kristina Katherine Bravo, aged 28 years of Windsor was pulled from the house by firefighters. The investigation into the fire continues.
