Update – 3:15am: Windsor Police have the suspect, a man in his 70s, in custody. The man had been holed up in his house for hours with a machete. An ambulance has taken the man to the hospital under the supervision of Windsor Police.

Update – 2:34am: Windsor Police’s tactical response team is on scene. Police appear to be attempting to talk the man out of the house. Two new firetrucks have arrived at the scene to relieve firefighters who have been dressed in full gear in the humidity for hours. Firefighters have hoses connected to two hydrants.

Update: 12:20am – Two fire trucks are at the scene in the event that fire and rescue services are needed. Dozens of neighbours have gathered to see what is going on. A bright light, hooked up to a diesel generator, is pointed at the house where the incident is taking place.

Windsor Police are on the scene of a standoff in the 900 block of Windermere.

Neighbours tell windsoriteDOTca that a man has barricaded himself inside his house and may be armed.

Windsor Fire is on the scene after learning that the man may set fire to the house.
