Members of the Ontario Provincial Police Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) – Drug Enforcement Section (DES) and Essex County OPP Community Drug Action Team (CDAT), executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant in the 100 block Seymour Crescent in Lakeshore, Wednesday.
OPP members attended the residence and discovered a large commercial indoor grow operation. The residence had been converted from a residential home to a commercial marihuana grow operation. Police seized over 1,500 potted marihuana plants growing inside the residence. The residence had significant modifications done to the interior to facilitate this large growing process.
This is the second largest commercial marihuana grow operation uncovered by the OPP Drug Enforcement Section in Lakeshore, as well as the recently dismantled marihuana grow operation in Tecumseh.
As a result of the investigation a 37-year-old male and a 33-year-old female found in the residence have been arrested and charged with:
Production of a Controlled Substance
Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
Theft of Hydro and Occupant injure dwelling
The investigation is continuing and both suspects are currently waiting arraignment and a bail hearing. The names are not being released at this time.
