A two month investigation by Windsor Police has culminated with a number of drug related charges being laid against a 34-year-old man and his 33-year-old common law wife.
On Wednesday, officers assigned to the Provincial Anti-Violence Intervention Strategy (PAVIS) obtained warrants to search two premises for drugs in the City of Windsor.
Prior to searching a closed business located at 2116 Gladstone Avenue, police observed a Cadillac Denali leave the building at 4:30pm. The Windsor Police Emergency Services Unit stopped the vehicle on Tecumseh Road East at Norman Road and officers arrested the 34-year-old male driver and the 39-year-old male passenger without incident.
The 39-year-old passenger was later released from the scene with no charges.
Seated in the rear of the Denali was the driver’s 6-year-old daughter. The child was later released to her grandfather who attended the scene. A subsequent search of the driver and the vehicle uncovered small quantities of Crystal Methamphetamine, Powder Cocaine and Crack Cocaine which was seized.
Officers then executed a search warrant at a business located at 2166 Gladstone Avenue, where inside, they found and seized 140 grams of Crystal methamphetamine, 36 grams of Cocaine and 106 grams of Cannabis Marihuana.
Police also seized other items consistent with drug trafficking.
Police then attended a residence located at 3133 Meadowbrook Lane Unit # 6 and executed a second search warrant. A 33-year-old woman answered the door and allowed officers entry to the home. Inside the house, officers located the woman’s 8 month old daughter – also the daughter of the previously arrested man.
The woman and the child were permitted to leave the home prior to the search. Upon executing the search warrant, officers found and seized 14 grams of Crystal methamphetamine, 7 grams of Crack Cocaine and a quantity of cash. The value of the combined seized drugs totalled $21,805.00.
