Essex County Oxygen Fraud

Essex County OPP are actively investigating several complaints involving the fraudulent exchange of medical oxygen supplies.

As a result of a thorough investigation, the Essex County OPP have arrested and charged Dennis Lee age 33, with several criminal offenses. Police report that over the past months Lee has been using the company name of Medair to fraudulently sell medical oxygen purifiers, warranties and service packages.

Lee was also victimizing legitimate companies, indicating to customers that their current medical oxygen provider has gone out of business and Mediar was taking over the contracts. The OPP reports that these offenses have occurred thorough the Windsor and Essex County area over the past few months and victims have ranged in age from 43 to 90 years of age.

Lee has been charged with two counts of Fraud over $5000, four counts of Fraud under $5000 and four counts of Theft under $5000. Essex County OPP also report that similar charges have been laid by neighboring police services within Essex County. Police believe there may be more victims in Essex County.
