UPDATE on September 29th 10:15 am:

Windsor Police advise that the fourth suspect was arrested Wednesday evening.  No charges have be laid against any of the four suspects.

UPDATE at 3:45 pm:

The 25 year old victim has been downgraded to stable condition at Hotel Dieu Hospital.  He has been transferred out of the ICU. He is conscious and is speaking with investigators. His injuries are no longer considered to be life threatening.

Suspect #2  as listed in the original story was arrested this afternoon and is now in Windsor Police custody.  Investigators have identified the remaining outstanding suspect listed as Suspect #1 and are attempting to locate this suspect. The investigation is continuing and charges of Aggravated Assault are pending.


Windsor Police have two men in custody and are searching for two others after a serious assault on the city’s west side yesterday afternoon.  At 3:15 pm yesterday afternoon, police responded to the intersection of Harrison Street at Girardot Street. for a report of a fight and a man down at this location.  When police and paramedics arrived they found a male lying in the roadway and two other young men next to him.

The 25-year-old man lying on the road was conscious and was able to speak with the officers.  He was transported to Hotel Dieu Hospital where his condition deteriorated.  He is currently in critical condition suffering from a life threatening head injury.

Police report that the victim and a friend had attended a neighbouring high school to meet the victim’s younger brother and walk him home from school.  As the three were walking westbound on Girardot approaching Harrison, a purple four door vehicle containing four male occupants pulled up alongside the walking group and words were exchanged.  At some point during the verbal exchange,  all four of the men inside the vehicle exited the car.  The victim was punched and kicked about the head and torso by at least three of the men from the vehicle rendering the victim unconscious.  After assaulting the victim, the four suspects got back into the car and sped away from the scene northbound on Harrison.

Later on in the evening a 19-year-old suspect was arrested at the corner of Howard Avenue at Edinborough Street.

At 11:00 am this morning, Wednesday, September 28, a 17-year-old young person was arrested at high school. The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.

Windsor Police are searching for the remaining two suspects. They are described as follows:

Suspect #1 – Male, Iraqi descent, 18 years, 6′ tall with a muscular build. He has short, dark hair on the top of his head and light hair on the side and also a goatee. He has a scar on his forehead. He was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and black running shoes.

Suspect #2 – Male , Iraqi descent, 6’tall, medium build, short brown hair.  He has stubble on his face with long sideburns. He was wearing a white T-shirt with a black swirl design on the front, dark blue jeans and black and white Nike high top running shoes.
