Co-owner Donna Foglia in front of her new restaurant

Husband and wife team Sam and Donna Foglia are following their dreams and opening a new Italian restaurant downtown.

“This is my dream,” said Donna, 30, who took a break from opening preparations to be interviewed for windsoriteDOTca.

“I’ve done everything in the restaurant business,” she said.  Becoming her own boss was the next logical step.

The name Luna’s, meaning ‘moon’, is a reflection of the bright, clean atmosphere guests can expect.

With a focus on fresh, local ingredients, Luna’s Trattoria will market to young, value-conscious families looking for an alternative to the high-priced Italian restaurants Windsor is known for.

“We are keeping our prices under $20.  The average entree is $18, including soup or salad and all bread is homemade right here,” said Donna.  She further explained that Luna’s marketing strategy includes advertising in a variety of media, along with a word-of-mouth campaign to friends and family.

Luna’s will fill the space at 322 Pelissier previously occupied by Bisquits and Gravy, which closed last year because of economic challenges.

In addition to their experience cooking, cleaning, serving and managing, Donna and Sam will rely on long hours and elbow grease to ensure their success.

Why will Luna’s succeed where others have failed?

“You know what, I love people.  I love the restaurant business.”

“I’m a very hard worker,” says Donna.  “You can’t sit back and let the business run itself.”
