College Avenue Bridge ready for demo Friday afternoon (Owen Wolter)

The College Avenue Bridge is set to be torn down this Labour Day Monday.  Since Labour Day is a mutual holiday on both sides of the river, there will be no rail traffic, and that is the most ideal day to do the demo of the bridge.

Contractors have been for weeks preparing the bridge and come Tuesday morning it will all be gone, and work will stray on the new replacement span, which is to be open by Christmas.
