Saturday evening just over 1000 cars were checked in a roadside RIDE program.   15 roadside tests were administered.  13 drivers had their licences suspended for three days.

Two males were arrested for possession of marijuana, one of the individuals was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, as he had approximately one pound of marijuana, scales, and cash.

Later in the evening around 230 a.m. a male entered a RIDE checkpoint on Riverside Drive at Goyeau.  He nearly rear ended a police cruiser, and when the officer spoke with the driver he detected the driver had alcohol in his system and asked for his licence.  The male decided he was not going to comply and drove around the cruiser nearly striking the officer and the cruiser.  He sped away at a very high rate of speed west on Riverside Drive running red lights at Ouellette and Ferry Streets.  Officers went after the male and as they approached Riverside and Church Street the offender had already collided with an eastbound car travelling on Riverside drive.  The offender then climbed out of the car and fled on foot.  He was quickly arrested.  Fortunately injuries in the crash were minor in nature and everyone involved was treated and released.  A passenger in the car which was struck was also arrested for violating alcohol conditions which had been imposed on him in an unrelated matter.

Preston Scott, 28 years is charged with Impaired Driving, Refusing a Breathalyzer, Driving while Disqualified, Dangerous Driving, Driving While under Suspension, and violating conditions of his Parole.
