Hello time traveller!!
This article is 4653 days old.
The information listed below is likely outdated and has been preserved for archival purposes.

Windsor ON: Windsor has been hit by a major storm which has caused multiple outages in our service area, which may be affecting as many as 20,000 EnWin customers. We are working to restore outages as soon as possible, through EnWin’s 24-7 grid watch system. Our storm response system has been activated, and the necessary measures are being put in place to address all current outages.

In many instances, EnWin will be able to restore power automatically, through our automated restoration systems. In others, EnWin will deploy special crews to address outages on site.

Our call centre has been inundated with requests for information, and we request that homeowners remain aware of the need to keep phone lines open, and call EnWin only if an emergency poses immediate threat to individual or community safety.

Threats to safety, which should be reported to EnWin include any observations of downed lines. If you see electrical lines down, warn people away from the area, and call EnWin, immediately.  If a downed line comes in contact with your car – don’t get out of the vehicle. Call EnWin from the car, and remain safely inside the vehicle. EnWin customers can report emergencies at 519-255-2727.

EnWin will continue to monitor power restoration progress and keep the public informed as restoration work is completed. We will post any further information via email release, as it becomes available.

Thank you for your help in relaying these important storm messages to the Windsor public.

UPDATE AT 10:55PM

WINDSOR ON: Approximately 16,000 customers remain out of power in Windsor at the present time. ENWIN crews and Supervisors are currently in the field attending to a multitude of problems, largely attributable to storm damage and broken tree limbs which have knocked down power lines.

Residents are reminded to remain clear of all downed lines and report them to ENWIN or Emergency Services.
