UPDATED: Suspect Arrested – Police Looking For 19 Year Old After Two Pharmacies Were Robbed

At 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2011, uniformed WPS officers were in the area of Grandview St. and Rivard St. investigating a complaint when they received information that the BYERS had just gotten on a Transit Windsor Bus in the area and had left the area northbound on Rivard St.  Officers contacted Transit Windsor and were able to confirm that the suspect was in fact on the bus.  Officers located the bus and followed it until the driver stopped on Wyandotte St at Reedmere St.  At this location,  officers boarded the bus and located the suspect seated in the rear of the bus where he was arrested without incident.  The suspect was not in possession of a firearm at the time of his arrest.

Nathan BYERS – 19 years of Windsor is charged with two counts of Robbery, Having His Face Masked During the Commission of an Offence and Breach of Probation.

Windsor Police have a 16 year old suspect in custody facing charges and are searching for a second suspect after two east side pharmacies were robbed yesterday afternoon.  At 4:50 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, a lone male suspect entered a pharmacy located in the 4900 block of Wyandotte St. E. and approached the pharmacist.  He produced a handgun and handed him a note demanding all the oxycontin.  The pharmacist complied and handed the suspect a quantity of medication.  The suspect fled the area northbound on a bike.  The pharmacist was not injured during the robbery.

At 6:30 p.m. on the same day, uniformed WPS officers responded to a report of a second pharmacy robbery at a store in the 2400 block of Tecumseh Rd E.  During this occurrence, a suspect matching the description of the suspect in the earlier robbery entered the pharmacy wearing a black bandana covering his face.  He approached the pharmacist, pointed a black handgun at her and handed her a note demanding all the oxycontin.  The pharmacist complied and the suspect fled the store with a quantity of oxycontin.  During this robbery, a second suspect stood outside the store.  Both suspects fled eastbound on bicycles prior to police arrival. Nobody was injured during this occurrence.

Investigators later received information as to the identities of both suspects responsible for both robberies.  At 10:15 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, officers assigned to the Emergency Services Unit attended the Salvation Army residence at 355 Church St. and arrested a 16 year old male suspect in relation to the offences.

A 16 year old young person is in custody facing charges of Robbery and Possession of Property Obtained By Crime.

Nathan Byers, 19 years of Windsor is wanted by the Windsor Police Service on two charges of Robbery and one count of Having His Face Masked During the Commission of an Offence.  Byers  is described as a black male, light skinned, 6’4″, 170 lbs.

Anyone with any information as to the whereabouts of  Nathan Byers  or who have any information regarding these two robberies is asked to call Windsor Police Investigations at 519-255-6700 ext 4830 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 519-258-TIPS (8477).

At the time of this release, the firearm used in the two robberies has not been located.  Windsor Police are advising the public to consider Byers to be in possession of that firearm and not to approach him.
