Finding a trendy place to go for sushi without having to drive all the way downtown can be difficult for those living in South Windsor. At least it was as of four weeks ago. That is until the well known downtown eatery, Iguana Sushi Bar, opened a new location.

Nuzzled in the corner of the Cabana Court Plaza at 3850 Dougall Avenue, the restaurant’s modern and chic décor creates a hip contemporary atmosphere. Maria Lemmo-Lio, owner and manager of Iguana Sushi with her husband, says the new location has more capacity, a larger patio, and a larger variety of sushi. For those living in South Windsor looking for a taste of downtown dining, the new place offers the same vibe as the original location with less money spent on gas. Lemmo-Lio says they’re able to cater towards people who live in that area but don’t have the desire to go downtown.

According to Lemmo-Lio, Iguana’s is the original sushi bar of the city, and offers a unique atmosphere. One of those unique qualities is the Iguana dipping sauce, of which the ingredients are kept secret. She says the Iguana sauce is very versatile and is great for not just sushi, but things like chicken, salads, etc. Lemmo-Lio says many of their competitors have tried to mimic the sauce, and that it’s an example of their quality products. Only time will tell if Iguana South will adapt to its new location.
