Hello time traveller!!

The information listed below is likely outdated and has been preserved for archival purposes.

While the rock rolled upstairs, The Coach and Horses (the basement of The Loop Building, 156 Chatham St. W) raged with a birthday show of 5 five metal bands that completely tore the place up.

Playing in support of the recently released “Funweiser EP” was Windsor’s own Goliath. I love the CD, was excited to see them play live, and for sure was not disappointed. The enthusiasm of band and crowd alike was a great way to kick off the night.

Up next was Reasons Lost, another local act with a formidable stage presence. The Coach isn’t a large place to begin with, and doesn’t really have a stage, so these guys decided to take up the entire floor, and it looked great. But even if they had been in polyester and horn rimmed glasses they still would have been impressive (perhaps more so) based on their heavy, chugging, and somehow bouncy sound.

Deathpoint from Hamilton had the floor (stage?) next. They started off heavy and didn’t let up the entire set, grinding their way through at a fast and steady pace as audience members flung hair and threw horns.

Always a group to draw a large crowd, and with the ever-present mob of female head bangers at the front of the crowd, Weapon of Choice delivered the expected heavy thrash with energy and fervor. Check out their myspace for the recently completed EP that will be available on iTunes shortly.

As a fantastic end to the night we had Odiumfrom Ajax who brought things to a whole new level. They whipped the crowd into a frenzy of fists, horns, hair, and as close to thrashing about as can be achieved at The Coach these days without being thrown out. Awesomely heavy tunes punctuated by clean vocals here and there, Odium is a band metal fanatics need to be familiar with.

Between sets I visited The FM Lounge on the main level, stay tuned for the full story on that show, and find more photos from this one here.
