The Windsor Spitfires fell short again on the road in Owen Sound during game three action, losing 6-4.  Ultimately Spitfire penalties late in the third period is what lead to the collapse of their lead.

During the first period, the Spits got off to a slow start with Owen Sound’s Shaw taking the first goal but was quickly matched just minutes later with a goal from Windsor’s Craig Duinick assisted by Saverio Posa and Taylor Carnevale.  The Attack were able to avenge this goal by crashing the net and giving them a 2-1 lead before going into the second period.

During the second period Windsor’s Jeff Brown scored but again Owen Sound’s Liam Heelis was able to tie it up just two minutes later.  However Windsor’s own Zack MacQueen added a goal just over a minute later off of a pass from Adrian Robertson and Zack Kassian.  At the end of the second period Owen Sound was leading with shots on goal 24-14 but the score was tied.

Khokhlachev scored in the opening minutes of the third period giving Windsor a lead of 4-3 before a two goal barrage from Owen Sound’s Garrett Wilson gave them the 1 goal lead (one goal was from a powerplay when Jake Carrick punched Jesse Blacker in the face).  The Attack’s Robby Mignardi added the empty net goal to finish off the Spitfires.  Zack Kassian was assessed a match penalty after laying out former Spitfire Jesse Blacker, he will likely face a one game suspension.

Game 4 is Monday night at the WFCU Center.  Owen Sound leads the series 2-1.  Mississauga leads their series with the Niagara Ice Dogs 2-1 after an overtime victory tonight.
