Saturday night at The Coach and Horses was a very anticipated show, with the debut of Windsor’s newest punk group, Repetitions. Containing members of current and past local groups such as The Posers, NeanderTHRALL, and Clusterfuxx, there was a lot of experience on one stage. Completing the lineup is fresh meat Stef Paulton on guitar, who even in the face of a tragic guitar mishap, kept her composure throughout the show as she laid down some chugging and wailing riffs. The sound of old-school punk rock with heavy distortion and   angry voices characterizes this band, and they are one definitely worth checking out. With a  first show this impressive, it’s safe to say they’ll only get better. If for some reason you were not at this show, you can catch Repetitions again with The Swabs!, Pious Dogs, The Rowley Estate, and Suppressulant on April 14th at The Coach.

Next on stage came The Heatseeking Moisture Missiles, in their first show of the year. This band always makes me think of Green Jelly, but in a great way to be sure, as that’s a band a love. THSMM has a easily noticed punkrock, 80’s metal influence, and this isn’t caused only by the mulleted frontman.  The tunes are fast and jumpy, the guitars crispy with distortion, with a cleaner solo poking it’s head trough every now and then, and the vocals a pleasant nasal yelling that I had some first-time listeners tell me they couldn’t quite stomach. But I find that to be part of the appeal. These guys might feel weird at first, but give ‘em a chance.

Ending the night was Hammerdown, who were mentioned in a post a couple months back. Saturday night they once again tore things up, getting the crowd excited with their brand of heavy metal. In the vein of “Master of Puppets” era Metallica, listening to these guys makes you feel the need to whip your hair around and punch someone, although at this show there was a definite (and thankful) lack of punching, as everyone just had a great time enjoying the music and putting back a few drinks, with the strong encouragement of the band to do both.
