The Spits’ 3-1 lead in this series quickly diminished to a 3-3 tie after two overtime losses in a row to the Erie Otters.

During the first period of play, the Spits wasted no time taking the energy out of the home crowd at the Tullio Arena with a goal scored by Tom Kuhnhackl tipped off a rebound into the top shelf.  Taylor Carnevale then added a pair of goals, one came from a quick pass from behind the net from Rychel.  He then was able to deke past Erie netminder Sadikov on a breakaway to make it 3-0 heading into the second period.

Erie was able to rally two quick consecutive goals during the second before Stephen Johnston was able to make it 4-2.  Erie’s Luciani scored again and Jack Campbell was struggling with his right knee after Erie crashed the net but opted to play the remainder of the game.

During the third period Erie was able to take the lead by one goal thanks to two goals scored by Varone and Holden.  Within the last 4 minutes of play Robertson was able to tie the game with a shot on Sadikov forcing the overtime.

Erie’s Thompson scored giving Erie their second overtime loss in a row and forcing game seven Tuesday night in Windsor.
