Theatre Windsor Wins Record Western Ontario Drama League Awards

The Western Ontario Drama League (WODL) was founded by D. Park Jamison in 1932.  The winner of this yearly competitive festival will represent the WODL region at the Theatre Ontario Festival in Richmond Hill in May 2011.

Theatre Windsor has earned this prestigious honour, as they won Best Production for their rendition of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? in January!

The won numerous other awards, as well:

The CALDER AWARD (Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role) went to Daniela Piccinin, who portrayed Honey in the play.

The BONANNO AWARD (Outstanding Performance By An Actress In A Major Role) went to Niki Richardson for her portrayal of Martha.

The TERRY DOYLE MEMORIAL AWARD (Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Major Role) went to Chris Lanspeary for his portrayal of George.

The REUBEN CARDINELL MEMORIAL AWARD (Best Co-ordinated Production) went to the entire cast and crew for their work on Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

The troupe was also nominated for Best Direction and Most Promising New Actor.

It’s been 72 years since Windsor has won best production, this year Theatre Windsor has shattered all existing award records. Congratulations!!
