The Essex Region Conservation Authority, Artcite, Inc. and the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, all which have requested additional funding in 2011 above the funding they received in 2010, have been turned down by the city’s administration.

Artcite is requesting $10,000 in funding from the City for 2011. This amount represents a increase of $5,000 from 2010, but the administrative recommendation is to decline the increase.

The Windsor Symphony Orchestra is requesting an additional $30,000 over the normal amount of $300,000 they received from the city in past years.  Administration is not recommending granting the additional money, and suggests leaving their funding at 2010 levels.  The symphony warns in its report to council that if they turn down the request this will result in a deficit for the organization of $3,348.

The Essex Region Conservation Authority asked the city for an increase of $133,567 in 2011 to bring the total amount of funding from the city to $1,415,531.   Administration is not recommending this increase, bur rather to stay with the 2010 level of $1,281,964.

The proposed budget goes before Council on Monday.
