Last night before 6212 at the WFCU Center the Spits took a tough loss to the Owen Sound Attack.  The Attack are currently the leader in points in the Western Conference of the OHL.  The Attack’s Hishon, Halmo and Wilson slipped three goals past Windsor’s Jack Campbell before Campbell was replaced in net by John Cullen.  Cullen made some great saves and overall this was one of the Spit’s strongest efforts put fourth.  Johnston and Posa returned to the lineup last night after being out for four and five games respectively due to injuries.  Jake Carrick is currently injured with a leg laceration from a game in Owen Sound from two weeks ago.

The Spits were able to rally from a 2 goal deficit  several times during the game with Ryan Ellis adding four points, Khokhlachev adding two goals, and Carnevale adding a goal.  The game was 3-4 Attack going into the third period and a goal from Ellis on the powerplay 2:23 into the period tied the game.   A late turnover in the third period gave the Attack’s Shaw a breakaway on John Cullen which was the game winning goal making it 5-4 Attack.  An empty netter was scored in the last minute by Owen Sound sealing the deal for a final score of 6-4 Owen Sound.

The Spits are in London tonight to take on the Knights, and will be at home on Sunday to face John Cullen’s former team, the Sarnia Sting.
