The much talked about Economic Revitalization Community Improvement Plan comes to Council tonight.  Administration is asking for their approval to table it for pubic feedback before Friday, January 21, 2011.  Council will also direct the City Planner to conduct two open house sessions on January 18, 2011 to solicit feedback and report back to Council on January 31, 2011 for final approval.  If you want a look at the draft Economic Revitalization Community Improvement Plan see it here.

The city is being asked to approve a onetime payment of $20,000 to Windsor Regional Problem Gambling Services for the publication of their newsletter “The Chase” and administration is recommending that they find other funding sources or partnerships going forward such as Caesars Windsor or the OLG.

Council will receive a report updating them on the 2011 budget process.   Department’s heads across the corporation are being asked to prepare their budgets based on 2010’s revenue and on top cut that by 10%.  Administrators have also provided Council with a 4-year outlook showing the financial pressures the city will be under to if they wish to maintain a 0% tax increase.  That report can be found here.

Staying with budgets, Council will be asked to approve funding of agencies in 2011 up to a maximum of 50% of the 2010 grant approvals, until the 2011 budget amounts have been set.  Many of the agencies rely on funding from the city to maintain their operations, and could experience some finical pressures if they do not receive any funding until the budget is approved at the end of March.  As part of the 2011 budget process, all City funded agencies, boards and commissions are being asked to cut their request for funding by 10%.  A complete listing of all requested amounts is available on page two of this report.
