WestJet Service from Windsor to Calgary is Offically Open!

A WestJet 737-700 lined up to land on runway 25 at YQG this afternoon

The first Westjet plane touched down on Windsor Airport’s runway this afternoon at about 3:23 and departed back to Calgary at 4:15.  This daily service will continue until October 31, 2010.  WestJet celebrated it’s return to Windsor International Airport in the terminal with complimentary cake.  WestJet operates a fleet of 88 Boeing 737 Next Generation’s.

“It’s a very special honour for me to be the WestJetter chosen to host this inaugural flight because I lived, attended school and worked in Windsor,” said Ferio Pugliese, WestJet Executive Vice-President, People and Culture. “I know first-hand that there are many people in southwestern Ontario with relatives in Western Canada, and WestJet’s seasonal service is a wonderful way to connect family and friends during the warm summer months. With convenient connections to cities like Saskatoon, Regina, Edmonton, Fort McMurray, Grande Prairie, Kelowna, Abbotsford, Vancouver and Victoria, this service is ideal for both leisure and business travellers.”
