Winter is fast approaching and yard sale season has come to an end – but The YardSale Store is open year-round at their 1635 Ottawa Street location.

Owner Chantal Goyette opened The YardSale Store after her interest in “storage wars” began. Abandoned storage units can be bid on, with the entire unit’s contents being won by the highest bidder. This is Goyette’s number one source for finding items for her store.

“I can fill up the whole store with one unit,” said Goyette.

Buying a new storage unit can be a lot like opening a treasure chest – some units may have record and DVD collections, old books, or kitchenware, while others will contain antique furniture. The store represents this variety, with shelves full of household knick knacks, dishes, jewellery, clothing, as well as high-end furniture and antiques.

“I was thinking of opening a second store for the high-end stuff,” said Goyette.

Business is going well for Goyette, who says things move quickly at the store. She continues to go to as many storage auctions as possible so she can keep the store full of quality items. With new items being added daily, no two visits will ever be the same.

The YardSale Store is located at 1635 Ottawa Street and can be contacted by calling 519-915-1117. The winter hours are Tuesday – Friday from 10am – 5pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9am – 6pm. You can also visit their Facebook page for updates on store hours and pictures of newly added items.
