Nestled in Old Walkerville, The Velvet Restaurant is one of those places you hear about from friends and think, could it be too good to be true?

It really is good, and it really is true: The Velvet Restaurant is a highly-affordable, large-portion, low-price, delicious breakfast and lunch restaurant that serves all-day breakfast.

The Velvet, along with other breakfast destinations in Walkerville, is very popular on Sunday mornings for example so there may be a bit of a wait. The interior is small and cozy with un-updated furnishings that give it a classic diner feel.

The Velvet serves a number of breakfast items from Egg Dishes (eggs any style with or without meat), Omlettes (including westerns, veggie and a “greek” omlette with black olives), Hotcakes (such as batter-home-made blueberry pancakes and french toast). The restaurant doesn’t permit substitutions to orders but there are plenty of add-ons to any meal.

The Velvet’s “Our Big Breakfast” shown above: two eggs served with plentiful helpings of home fries, bacon, ham and sausages.

Home-made pancake (shown above), included with the Big Breakfast. The Velvet also offers a lunch menu with burgers, hot sandwiches and melts.

The Velvet Restaurant is located at 1646 Wyandotte Street East in Walkerville.
