For over forty years Fred’s Farm Fresh has been offering local produce to Windsor residents.

Starting out as a roadside stand in the 1970s, Fred’s Farm Fresh has moved into their newest location at 2144 Huron Church Road on June 15th, 2012. The building is bright and airy, featuring tall ceilings and skylights making it feel as though you are shopping in an outdoor market place. Everything is delivered directly to the store to insure freshness. Many items are even handpicked from food shows around the world.

There are many features to the store, including a large selection of fresh produce and dry goods. The store also boasts a world class butcher shop. Gourmet prepared butcher shop products include kabobs, marinated steaks, chicken breasts, stuffed roasts, pork chops, hand-cut steaks, specially prepared meats, and burgers. Fresh sausage is made in house, including hot or mild Italian sausage, Louisiana Andouille, Chorizo, honey garlic, and pesto chicken.

The dairy selection is just as extensive as their butcher shop, offering hundreds of cheeses from around the globe (as well as local Ontario cheese). Shoppers will find uncommon varieties of goat and sheep cheese, bries, Swedish, Danish, Swiss, Mexican, Spanish, Greek, Indian, Irish, and British cheeses. Italian cheeses include asiago, pecorino, provolone, crotonese, piave, reggiano, padano, romano, and more.

The newest feature is the hot deli, featuring fresh roasted chicken, grilled BBQ ribs, grilled salmon, grilled vegetables, homemade chili, fresh soup, and jumbo chicken wings. There are plenty of other deli items, including gourmet sandwiches, a salad bar and the olive bar – full of delicious items, including wild mushrooms, grilled eggplant and zucchini, feta stuffed peppers, sundried tomatoes and roasted red peppers. The bakery also has a variety of fresh baked breads.

Fred’s not only offers international variety, but also carry many food items for different dietary needs, such as gluten free items, sugar free items as well as products for vegetarians and vegans.

Adding to the market-place-like charm is the in-house flower shop. Customers can order a variety of items, from large wreaths to small bouquets and delivery is available upon request. Gift baskets, fruit baskets and party platters are available to order.

Every season holds something special for Fred’s, whether it be their extensive nursery of garden plants in the spring/summer, a great store to pick out a pumpkin in the fall or the place to go to choose a Christmas tree, all while supplying your everyday grocery needs at the same time.
