WHAT

Claude Debussy revolutionized the way composers have thought of music, through what has becoming known as Impressionism. Maurice Ravel was immensely popular, and his music established a vital and colourful aesthetic to the Germanic traditions. Georges Bizet was a genius at melodic invention, thematic handling, and orchestration. This concert highlights all three of these composers, featuring Canadian star David Jalbert performing Ravel’s Piano Concert, plus the world premiere of Ontario composer Jeff Smallman’s Gorbasew Variations.
