WHAT

A performance of a unique type of art will be held on Sunday, December 14th at the Unity Church of Windsor just in time for Christmas. It’s called a Sand Show. Artist, Yelena Simone, will use a light table, sand, and music to create a powerful message by sculpting sand into images to form a story. In this case, she will tell the tale of the Nativity. Using her fingers and hands as brushes, Simone will paint each picture from sand, stroking and moving the sand to create each new scene. The story unfolds as if it were a film. While Simone sculpts each picture on her light table, the live production is projected onto a large screen for the audience. Lasting ten to 20 minutes, the Sand Show includes music or narration to provide drama, cohesion, and make the production flow. The Sand Show will be held on Sunday, December 14th, during a Christmas service at the Unity Church of Windsor, 3640 Wells Street, Maryvale Campus, just off Prince Road, N9C 1T9. The service takes place between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome.
