Francois (Frank) and Heather Gratton of Windsor won a $50,000 top prize with Instant Crossword.

“I was on my way home from visiting family and decided to gas up,” shared Frank while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto with his wife of 32 years, Heather, to pick up their winnings. “I used the change from that purchase to buy an INSTANT CROSSWORD ticket.”

Later that day, Frank scratched the ticket. “I started to reveal word after word until I saw 11 words in front of me. That means I won the top prize of $50,000! I was excited but hesitant too, thinking I messed something up.” The couple’s son checked the ticket. “He said, ‘You got it!’”

Frank called Heather to share the good news. “I asked her, ‘Are you sitting down?’ When I told her how much we won, she thought I was just teasing her.”

Earlier in the day, Heather won $60 with Instant Crossword Tripler. “When Frank called to tell me about the win I thought he was just trying to steal my thunder. But it was no joke and here we are. Winning the lottery is a great comfort, but I’m not sure it has even sunk in yet.”

Heather and Frank are planning to take a trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands. “We have family in St. Thomas and we are looking forward to a visit that will have us living among the locals. Then we are planning to focus on our family. We have two children and three grandchildren and we are excited to start an education fund for them,” concluded the pair.

The winning ticket was purchased at Esso on Highway 401 West in Woodstock
