The 2017 Chinese New Year celebration took off Sunday morning at Devonshire mall, in association with the Essex County Chinese Canadian Association (ECCCA). The traditional Dragon Dance kicked off the start of the celebration, with the dragon going around the mall with traditional music playing.

Betty Lee-Daigle, secretary for ECCCA, stands with Francois Lee-Daigle, portraying the God of Fortune, and Catherine Fung, board director of the ECCCA.

The God of Fortune hands out red pockets to children, which have a chocolate dollar inside.
