An Amherstburg restaurant is offering a unique flair to an Amherstburg Community Services meals on wheels delivery just before Christmas.

On Friday, December 23rd, the staff the Beacon Ale House, will work alongside the kitchen staff at ACS to provide a delicious and unique holiday meal.

The idea was proposed by Sara Palmer, who owns and operates the Beacon Ale House in partnership with her husband, Jon, as a way to give back to the community in a unique way.

“I thought to myself, ‘what better way for us to give to the community than by doing what we do best,’” said Palmer. “We’re so excited to work with the ACS staff, and we just hope their clients enjoy what they get. Our staff has worked so hard already to prepare for the 23rd, and we all feel so blessed to have this opportunity to put smiles on the faces of those in our community.”

The Beacon Ale House will be providing five staff members to help prepare and package the food from 6:30am to 10:30am with ACS staff preparing alternative food options for different client preferences and needs.

As well as providing staff to help prepare the meals, Beacon Ale House will be donating the food and ingredients to be used that day.

ACS volunteers will then deliver the meals as normal, starting at around 10:45am.

“It’s that time of year that everyone wants to give something, but a lot of times businesses find themselves stretched thin” said ACS executive director, Kathy DiBartolomeo. “For businesses like this to still be looking for ways to give back and make a difference is amazing. We were thrilled when they approached us with this idea.”

ACS provides the Meals on Wheels program in Amherstburg, LaSalle, Harrow and McGregor to adults of all ages who are recovering from illness, injury or operations, or who live with disabilities, as well as anyone over the age of 55.
