City of Windsor Poet Laureate Marty Gervais is hosting five poets from across Canada this week.

The guest poets include Yvonne Blomer (Victoria, British Columbia), Micheline Maylor (Calgary, Alberta), Anna Yin (Mississauga, Ontario), Kim Fahner (Sudbury, Ontario) and Gerry Hill (Regina, Saskatchewan). They will take part in a number of events, such as literary readings in area schools including the University of Windsor.

The highlight of the week will be an intimate evening of poetry reading and discussion at Willistead Manor. Poetry at the Manor – Volume 4 will take place this Thursday, October 27th from 7pm to 9pm and is free to the public.

In addition to public readings and discussion, there will be book signings and sales, literary giveaways, and Poetry-On-Demand with Windsor poet and published author Vanessa Shields.

“This kind of assembly had never been tried,” said Gervais. “Windsor was the first to do this. Since its inception, other communities across Canada have jumped on the bandwagon and organized similar events.”
