It’s been just over two years since legendary Windsor restaurant Tunnel-Bar-B-Q closed its doors at Freedom Way and Park Street East in Downtown Windsor, but company officials say they’re coming back — and soon.

The company, which still sells its sauces and products at a variety of stores, erected a billboard on Dougall Avenue announcing the return, and posted an image to their facebook page with the words “We’re Coming Back.”

Facebook users speculated the message indicated a planned new restaurant location for Tunnel Bar-B-Q, but company officials have remained quiet pending a future announcement.

Company president Helena Racovitis Ventrella said Tuesday in an email to Windsor media outlets that an announcement on the company’s future plans would be made later this week to reporters.
