The City of Windsor has been selected as a host site for a National Coaches Week Workshop, and there are 25 spaces available.

Windsor is one of 10 host communities partnering with the Coaching Association of Ontario (CAO) to deliver the free National Coaching Certificate Program days, which aim to recruit, develop, educate and celebrate community volunteer coaches around the province. CAO estimates that every 10 coaches trained equals 200 youths playing sports.

“We’ve all had coaches throughout our lives that have made a huge impact on us,” said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens. “The time coaches volunteer to make our lives better is incredible, so securing this workshop through our Sport Tourism Officer is a great way to turn the tables and show our support for their efforts.”

The free workshop focuses on fundamental movement skills and is ideal for anyone working with children aged 3 to 12 in a recreation or sport setting.

The workshop takes place Saturday, September 24th, 2016 from 9am to 5pm at the Windsor International Aquatics and Training Centre. Anyone interested must pre-register with Coaches Ontario.
