An OPP cruiser was damaged while an officer tried to make an arrest on July 29th.

Police say that while on routine patrol in Leamington, an officer came across a group of males that appeared to be fighting in the parking lot at the intersection of Fox Street and Mill Street.

The men got into a red Dodge pickup truck that was subsequently stopped a short time later. The driver exhibited signs of impairment and was issued a roadside screening device demand, which the driver refused.

He was arrested at the scene and was uncooperative with police causing damage to the cruiser. He was also found to be in contravention of previously imposed court conditions.

George Friesen, age 23 of Leamington was charged with refuse to provide sample, two counts of fail to comply with undertaking and mischief under $5,000.

He was taken for a bail hearing and will appear in a Leamington court at a later date.
