The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society says that the owner of the dogs removed from Bonita Street on June 10th has been located, and is cooperating with the investigation.

They say that the owner confirmed to them that the six other dogs suspected of coming from the home had, in fact, been abandoned early Friday morning at various locations out of concern that they would be found during the investigation which began Thursday.

An additional dog was found at the location identified by the owner late Saturday, and one dog is currently still missing and believed to be somewhere in the Broadway/Matchette area of west Windsor.

They say that their investigation is ongoing and charges against the owner are pending.

The 14 dogs currently in the care of the Humane Society have now been surrendered by their owner and are receiving necessary medical, behaviour, and grooming care.

They expect that they will all eventually be placed for adoption.

Donations towards the care of these dogs are being accepted at http://windsorhumane.org/donate-now-2/ and at the Humane Society.
