Joe Schmoe’s Marries Tasty Food and Family Friendly Atmosphere

With 15 different burgers, 17 different sandwiches and six different salads, Joe Schmoe’s Eats N’Drinks is the place to be on Malden Road in LaSalle, all day every day.

Big portions, wide variety, and a family friendly atmosphere is what Joe’s is all about. Jon Lavigne and his wife Candice have owned the restaurant together for eight years, and have an outstanding reputation for good service, quality food and absolute consistency.

“We give big portions and everything is from scratch, so whether it be our pulled pork, our roast beef, we do all of that in house,” said Lavigne. “The pulled pork takes two days, the roast beef takes 18 hours. We make six of our own barbeque sauce, five dips, we do our onion strong to order, we make our own guacamoles, so we do a lot of things from scratch.”

Lavigne also explained they have a number of beer options available as well, and with his “amazing” staff of 32, his customers always feel super happy. They even added the patio last year, which has been a major hit.

This year, Lavigne is continuing to keep it fresh by adding in Melt Down Mondays, featuring gourmet grilled cheeses, which they can be anything from a basic grilled cheese with some chicken and avocado on it, to a grilled cheese with spaghetti and meatballs on top, and even pork and beans. They also feature Take Down Tuesdays which is their weekly burger competition, with two original burgers going head to head for three to four weeks, and whichever sells the most will stay on to compete against a new burger.

“This business has helped me deal with situations better I feel, it’s helped me interact with customers and people better, and it’s helped me get involved in the community more,” said Lavigne. “It’s a grind, it’s an every day business but I enjoy it, I enjoy meeting new people and making sure people are happy. It’s refreshing to hear people say they leave and they have a good experience, we get good reviews and when the customers keep coming back. We have very loyal clientele, they come back and come back and come back.”
