Police Rescue Man From The Detroit River

Police had to rescue a man after he jumped into the Detroit River Sunday evening.

Police say it happened in the area of 11800 Riverside Drive East around 9:15pm.

Officers were able to use a nearby homeowners kayaks, and EMS illuminated the officers with spot lights as they approached the male with a life jacket.

Officers helped the male stay safe until nearby citizens in a boat then came over to assist officers in getting the male on board and back to the rear break wall.

EMS subsequently transported the male to hospital for treatment.
