One person has been charged after a multi vehicle accident at the corner of Wyandotte and Jefferson Sunday night that also saw a pedestrian hit.

The crash happened just after 11pm and police say that when they arrived witnesses told them that the involved driver fled the scene after hitting the female pedestrian. A number of citizens were tending to a 15-year-old female who sustained non-life threatening injuries. EMS arrived and transported the female to hospital.

The Canine Unit arrived and located the suspect driver, hiding a short distance away. Officers placed the male under arrest without further incident. While under arrest officers formed the opinion that the male suspect’s was also impaired.

Police say that their investigation revealed the suspect was driving a black vehicle eastbound on Wyandotte Street East, just west of Jefferson. The vehicle clipped a vehicle, causing it to veer into the westbound lane where it struck another vehicle and a hydro pole. The vehicle then struck the 15-year-old pedestrian who was walking her dog.

A 23-year-old male from Windsor is charged with dangerous driving, fail to remain at accident, impaired driving and exceed 80 milligrams of alcohol.
